COVID-19 forced us to innovate and be faster

Covid-19 impacted every element of our effort in 2020 - New constraints to resolve:
- We could no longer raise donations at school and this cut into our funding plans.
- Meetings with the Hands For The Andes Club at Gill St. Bernard's School were interrupted.
-Travel to Ayacucho end volunteering at the homes was no longer possible.
- Meetings with caretakers and our donors were also more difficult.
- Shipping clothing and goods from Lima to Ayacucho was not possible as Peru went into lockdown.
How we adapted and kept helping
-Kept in touch with the administrators and established relationships in Peru. This made us faster and more efficient as we learned not to wait for in-person meetings to learn and solve problems.
- We wired funds for food kitchens and medical supplies to Ayacucho
-We partnered with a non-profit organization in Lima that distributed our clothing and toys where they were most needed in Lima.
-We are helping a very poor father with treatment and all medical expenses so he can return healthy to his village.
-We are planning the next phase of our academic and career mentoring program for the orphaned girls in Huanta remotely.
